When I first saw this space, I was extremely grateful to see that this was my starting off point. The artificial grass, pavers, wooden paneling and lighting had all set the stage for what the space could look like. We just had to add some furniture and plants!
The wooden paneling had been taken up to a certain point on the side for access to water hoses, pipes and other garden related functions. We started off this project by extending that wooden paneling and adding an integrated door for easy access and a seamless look.

Danah and Abdullah really wanted a dining and living portion in this space. So after figuring out a floor plan that could work, we added lighter outdoor furniture as a contrast to the darker walls. I’m not usually a fan of matchy matchy pieces, but for this modern home, it was the perfect look. And because we were adding so much furniture to an enclosed space, the matching pieces helped create a serene environment that didn’t feel too busy.
For the plants, it was best to go as low maintenance as possible. We added lots of snake plants for height and a potted plumeria that will provide a pop of green and fragrant flowers.
Since the wall lights were already there, we just added a couple of extra USB lights that can be moved around the patio space when needed. I love how discreet they are.
And to top it all off, Danah and Abdullah can enjoy the view of their patio from their dining room as well.
I hope you enjoyed this simple but effective transformation!
