I’m actually really excited about showing you guys this particular tablescape – it has a totally different vibe from my Ramadan Table with a Modern Twist: Part I post from a couple of days ago!
Like my Part I set up, there were no flowers available and no new items were used, so everything was taken from my home and any extra plants were from my garden. The other florals were some faux ones from my existing collection. I don’t usually love using them, but in these kinds of situations, they’re the perfect solution.
How I Created This Tablescape…
For this setting, I wanted it to feel easy, breezy, light, a little coastal and a tad bit feminine. I was channeling more of an Iftaar in California vibe…
My starting off point was my navy table runner from Pottery Barn. I was really inspired by the idea of trying to create a Ramadan theme around it. I then pretty much set the rest of my table with pastel colors, gold, white marble, wood tones and basketweaves in mind. Coastal, but feminine!
I’m really obsessed with my new white vase from Pottery Barn, so I used it as my centerpiece, and added a wooden board underneath to ground the look. Without the board, it kind of looked like the vase was floating on the table runner because of the amount of white around it.
I wanted lighter and heartier greens in my vase, so I used some from my yard instead of using my darker green faux florals. I also knew I had to have these outdoor lanterns from Ashley KSA on the table, and because they’re the same height, I decided to go with a symmetrical look. The vase in the center was made to be the tallest, the lanterns are slightly shorter, and the floral vases on each side are slightly shorter than the lanterns. Just remember that even if you’re going with a symmetrical look for your table, you have to think about height on each side – it can’t all be the same height. It just really helps keep your eye moving around the table!
I was so happy to be able to use my gold cutlery set with my rattan chargers for this setting. It adds just a hint of glam to the table! In this scenario, I could have even used silver accents, but I really wanted the pop of gold instead.
I loved the glass elements from the first set up, but to adjust it for this theme, I had to change out the black and white bone inlay tray with a square lacquer one instead. It gives the setting a lighter and more modern look, and still keeps the table clutter-free. For some more blue on the table, I added my blue and white side plates with these awesome bowls that I got in Portugal. I didn’t have any neutral cloth napkins, so plain white tissue napkins from the grocery store were my only and best option. They’re not bad actually!
In keeping with the groupings on the table, my hummus and pita chips were grouped onto a white marble tray, and the lemonade with the glasses on the other side. I just find grouping items to be the best way of avoiding the cluttered table look.
I love making sugar cookies, but it’s been a while. I didn’t have the right icing so it didn’t quite turn out the way that I wanted, but I still think they look pretty cute with the messed up white glaze and white sprinkles. I didn’t actually have a moon cookie cutter either, so I used some glasses from my house to create the moon shape. For all of you Dhahran people, the company glasses are the best ones to use haha!
Lastly, I added some little tea lights and smaller candles to fill up space and to add just a touch more glam to the table.
