I love all things design. I also really love food… but I think design tops it all.
The Design Souk is a space where I get to post about my design obsessions, my life-long attempts at finding the perfect home organization system, the random and sometimes dramatic changes that I like to make to my home/garden every few months, tips and tricks that I think you should probably know about, stores you should probably know about as well… and all the fun projects that I’ve been working on. The Design Souk aesthetic is all about bringing a casual elegance to a home – balancing beauty, function and comfort throughout a space
I launched The Design Souk when I was desperately trying to figure out how to go about decorating my home in Saudi Arabia. My husband and I had moved from Toronto into a small rental home in Dhahran with a lot of challenges, so I was in need of some serious inspiration and clever ideas to help create a comfortable and functional home.
The blog started off as a space for me to be able to share local gems with others who were struggling to find what they wanted. Since then I’d like to think that it has gone beyond being just a local guide, and has turned into a source of inspiration for all décor lovers. When I’m not decorating my own home, I spend my time helping people with their decorating dilemmas. I love the challenge of finding things locally by utilizing local companies and resources to work across all budgets!
