Custom Made Dining Room Cabinet: BEFORE & AFTER

My first experience with getting custom made furniture in Saudi was absolutely fabulous! I had a company in Dammam, called Arabian SAS Co., make a dining room cabinet for me a couple months ago since I was having such a hard time finding EXACTLY what I wanted.

I needed something to fit a smaller space since our dining room/living room has limited space. I looked around for months and months for the perfect piece in the market, but couldn’t find a thing that fit my style! I’m also currently obsessed with marble, and wanted a marble countertop. Nothing incorporated the type of marble I wanted, so I asked our ladies group on Facebook for suggestions for custom furniture places, and SAS came highly recommended.

I sent SAS pictures of units and fixtures that I liked (mostly from searches in Pinterest), and then drew out my own design with exact measurements.

They were extremely helpful and were very clear about what was possible and what was not. There was a little bit of a waiting period since they had quite a few jobs lined up, but once they got started it took just a few weeks. I visited once just to help pick out the cabinet and lighting fixtures since it is limited to what is in the market. I thought about ordering these items from the States and having them shipped here, but then decided to go all local on this one!

All in all, the end result is dramatically awesome…

I removed the door between the kitchen and dining room to add more space. That was a super easy fix and didn’t require breaking down walls – phew. I’ve also started filling my unit with unique meaningful pieces – my favorites being a pot my mom made (picture on the left), a beautiful “Allah” tile I got from Istanbul (bottom right picture), as well as some English ceramics (top right picture) that I purchased from a small store on Portabello Road in the UK.

I am extremely happy with the service and results, and would suggest giving them a ring if you’re in the market for a custom piece!
