Happy Saudi National Day Long Weekend!
I’m so excited to have 4 days off this weekend – I hope you have something fun planned for it!! As you could probably see from my IG stories, we have been traveling quite a bit… so I’m super thrilled to be spending this weekend vegging out on my couch and watching a lot of Netflix. Best weekend ever.
So my last “My Thursday Faves” post was in April. Wow. I’m sorry. I know a lot of you really enjoy this series, so I’m gonna make it up to you by sharing my favorite red velvet cupcake recipe of all time. It’s so good that I doubt you’ll ever go out again for a red velvet cupcake craving after you’ve made this one… Yep. You’re welcome…
My Favorite House Tour
I’d never seen Mindy Gayer‘s work before SMP Living’s post on this home that she designed, but after seeing it I’ve realized that her design aesthetic is everything. She is the perfect example of how powerful design can be. She took a traditional Spanish style home (my favorite!), and updated it to something more modern with a very light color palette (also my favorite!), but it’s her use of pattern and texture that really takes it to the next level for me. There are so many little details that make the space look modern and expensive, yet also make it look totally livable as well! I just can’t tell you how hard that balance is to achieve. She’s definitely a new design crush for me!
My Favorite Recipe
The Hummingbird Bakery’s red velvet cupcake recipe is one of the best cupcake recipes out there – super moist and light! They’re so deceptively light in taste that you’ll end up making them once or twice a month, inhaling a few of them in one sitting, and then gaining a ridiculous amount of weight over time, which is then impossible to lose… #truestory… Anyways, I still think you should make them because they’re that good!
The only thing I changed about this recipe is that I cut out a fair amount of the cream cheese from the icing recipe since I’m not a fan of the taste of cream cheese (I usually only add 125 g.). It seems like a lot less, but if you mix the icing properly, it’ll end up being just as light and fluffy!
My Favorite Décor
I’ve realized that sometimes buying a brand new frame here is far more convenient, sometimes cheaper, and maybe even prettier than having something custom made. I was working on a gallery wall and rather than having a set of frames made, I stopped by West Elm and picked up these beauties in white. They were very reasonably priced, and with the Pottery Barn and West Elm sale this long weekend, they might even be cheaper now!
My Favorite Instagram/Pinterest Find
I just love what Nicole from Home On Poplar Creek did to her pantry. She needed something that worked better for her family, so she DIY-ed her way to a fab new pantry set up! It’s actually so inspiring and seems so doable from her post that I may revamp my pantry. Again…
Have a wonderful long weekend folks!!
