This is a really special transformation for me. It’s the first project that I’ve had where it was a complete blank slate. Every single item was picked for this room. And I’m just so grateful for Norah who not only has a great eye for design, but really gave me the freedom to fully implement what was going on in my head.
Norah was craving a moody and cozy space that would be ideal for entertaining guests in formal and casual settings. For a moody feel, I knew I needed to add warm textures and warm colors as well as some bold pieces of furniture. Mixing and matching different types of fabrics and materials, while being mindful of my color palette, was really the key to creating that formal and casual feel. I really wanted to bring in interesting pieces of furniture as well so that one could focus on those things rather than on the lack of architectural details in the space.
It took a long time to complete this project as we were dealing with so many COVID-related shipment delays. One of the benches we ordered just never came! However, it all came together and I can’t wait to show you what we did with this space…

While I adore every part of this room, I am totally in love with the green armchairs. Surprisingly, they weren’t even a part of the original plan! Norah and I were on the hunt for a fabric chair with wood details for the longest time, and couldn’t find anything anywhere. Eventually, she found this chair through RIS Living in Jeddah and sent it to me. Since the pictures of the chair on the site weren’t great we were skeptical. But as soon as they sent us videos, we were sold! Now I can’t imagine the room any other way.
The other piece I love is this Frame TV. The beauty of this TV is that it allows you to put up artwork on the screen when you don’t want to watch anything. It even has a non-reflective matte display that blends in beautifully with the artwork around it.
This living and dining room combo had a large empty wall in the middle of it. When dealing with a wall in the middle of a room like this, I like to use it to define and separate spaces as well as give height and/or character to the room. This cabinet was the first piece brought in and made a huge statement with its size and its color. I also loved that the arched detail on top helped soften the entire look.
I wanted the entryway to be stylish and help set the mood when you walk in without being too busy. This meant adding simple pieces like a wooden entryway table and a bench with a bit of black to help introduce some of the colors/materials used throughout the house.
