This year, I teamed up with West Elm MENA to style not one, but TWO table settings for the month of Ramadan! You can see the highlights of both of my styled tables in the West Elm video above.
This was such an interesting opportunity for me to reimagine what an Iftar table could look like when purchasing items at a globally accessible store. So it begs the question, what makes a table feel like Ramadan? Other than the food, for me it’s all about lanterns, hints of gold, moons and stars as well as a bit of a warmer color palette. So in an abstract way, I tried using bits of those elements in each table with a much-needed pop of greenery as a centerpiece.
Ramadan Table Setting I
The first concept is my interpretation of how an Iftar table would suit a home like mine with a gray, blue and white color palette. I always want a practical option for a tablescape as I want to be able to use pieces over and over again without compromising on my own aesthetic preferences.
Because this concept is quite neutral, I wanted to start off with something dramatic – a tall vase with large palm leaves coming out of it. I just loved the idea of the leaves casting shadows on the table! You can also easily find these leaves locally if you don’t want a faux one. I then used beautiful modern lanterns in white and gold, and tried to fill up as much of the table as I could with different sizes.

Ramadan Table Setting II
The second concept is a bit more traditional and for those of you who like warmer tones in their color palette. I added a lot more gold and gave it a somewhat formal feeling. I just love how the tones in the plates match the table!
