I love a good before and after, and Part IV (the final part) of the Safaniya Drive Project is a pretty fabulous one! If you missed Part I, II & III of this project, make sure to check out the living and dining room makeover, the home office makeover as well as the master bedroom makeover.
When I saw this yard, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I could totally see an indoor/outdoor living scenario with a dining set, a lounging set, and even a fire pit for cooler nights. And while I normally love seeing grass in a yard, it really wasn’t right for this space. Vina doesn’t even like gardening! So then I suggested that we remove all of it… I knew I could inject some greenery back into the space, but it just needed a bit of order and organization. In addition, we also needed some plants that were desert friendly and could be put on automatic bubblers.
After removing the grass, moving the main water line to the side of the yard, adding some tiles, a planting bed, giving the walls a coat of gray paint, painting old pots, and adding some new patio furniture along with some lights, this space still has a satellite dish… but also has a totally new and chill vibe…

This outdoor storage bench covers the entire wall and has enough room to hold all of the cushions from outside as well as any equipment that needs to be stored. The bench was made by Arabian SAS and a custom cushion made by a local upholsterer was added on top.
| AFTER… IN THE EVENING |
As evening sets in, the ambiance in this backyard just gets better and better. And because there are multiple light sources, the mood can be set by turning some on or off – totally depending on how Vina wants the space to feel…
