And now it’s on to Part III of the Safaniya Drive Project!
After finishing Vina’s living and dining room and home office, we then moved on to her master bedroom. By this point in the design process, the actual design takes far less time than it did at the beginning of a project. This is mostly because we’ve already figured out the general vibe and theme of the home. So to keep it cohesive, we went with a very similar “look” to the home office, and created a coastal/beachy space.
There were a couple things that we had to change out completely – the bed really needed a proper headboard so that was replaced as well as many of the accessories. The room was repainted in Sherwin William’s Agreeable Gray, and the existing dresser and nightstands were painted white to suit the style of the updated space. We also added one more piece of custom furniture to complete the cozy coastal vibe…

As you can see, we kept the curtain rod and pushed it up a few inches, and the curtains and sheers were both replaced. While the curtains look blue in the first picture, they’re actually more of the blue/green of the curtains in the second picture. At least you can see that they’re a true mix of the two colors!
We brought in Mohammed and Danial Ameer’s expertise once again (as they had done an amazing job on the breakfast table in the office) to help repaint the existing dresser and nightstand. The handles and knobs were replaced with a set that was purchased on Amazon, and we slightly adjusted the nightstands to work better for Vina and Andy’s storage needs. The Ameer family also repainted the frame of an old mirror that Vina had in storage, which we put above the dresser!
You can also see that my favorite lamp from Home Centre also made it into this design. I know I use it SO much, but I just love it SO much!
The other piece of furniture that was added to the space was a custom bench for the end of the bed. Arabian SAS made the wooden structure and we had a local upholsterer, Mohammed, add a cushion on top. While I would have loved to add a rug to the mix, it just seemed like a safety hazard. The carpet in our compound homes is just too plush for something to stay in place every day!
I hope you loved the space!
