So I know I’ve been quiet on the blog recently, but I guess it’s hard to imagine talking about anything other than COVID-19 these days… I feel weird trying to act like it’s not the ginormous elephant in the room. So I’m totally going to embrace it and after being inspired by Em Henderson’s post on what to do while social distancing, I thought I’d come up with my own set of recommendations of things to do while you’re at home alone or with your family. It’s almost like a variation of a My Thursday Faves post!
My Favorite House Tour
One of my favorite Toronto Interior Designers, Jacquelyn Clark from Lark & Linen, recently wrote a whole series about her work on her mother’s kitchen, and the reveal post is just so beautiful! It’s what I would consider an updated and more modern interpretation of French Country, which is really refreshing to see in a world full of contemporary and/or mid-century modern furnishings. I love the combination of the dark countertop against the creamy cabinets with beautiful brass hardware. I also never thought that I’d want to have a fireplace in my kitchen, but her design makes me want to consider having one especially with the little breakfast nook right next to it. This kitchen is essentially the perfect entertaining space for someone who wants to cook and socialize at the same time!
Jacquelyn also has multiple posts on the process, her inspiration as well as posts on how she planned out the space, so this series could keep you quite busy for a while…
My Favorite Recipes
Like many of you, I’ve been cooking a lot these days, and there are a few recipes that I think you need to try while you’re at home these days: Chicken Tinga Tacos by a Pinch of Yum (picture below), French Toast by Once Upon a Chef, Spinach and Artichoke Dip by Alton Brown and Roast Chicken by Ina Garten. And I’ve posted this recipe before on My Thursday Faves, but if you haven’t tried this red velvet cupcake recipe by the Hummingbird Bakery yet, you should probably do that too…
My Favorite Design Shows on Netflix
I’m a TV addict, so I watch a lot of shows and have lots of recommendations. So to make this a little bit more manageable, I thought I’d share some of my favorite home/design shows on Netflix to keep you inspired: Tidying Up with Marie Kondo, Queer Eye More Than a Makeover, Queer Eye We’re In Japan, Grand Designs, Tiny House Nation, Interior Design Masters, Stay Here, and just because it’s the best fashion related series I’ve seen in a while, Next In Fashion.
My Favorite Accounts to Follow on Instagram
Some I enjoy for their projects, some for their aesthetic, some for their stories, but they’re all so fun to follow if you love interior design: The Identite Collective, Em Henderson, Amber Interiors, Studio McGee, Mindy Gayer Design, Studio Lifestyle, Lindsey Brooke Design, Lindye Galloway, Dan Mazzarini, Halfway Wholistic, Natalie Chong, and Harlowe James for now…
TDS Posts to Keep You Busy
